Exhibiton Alert- Saint Marks Artist Collective November 15 to December 12, 2024
We are thrilled to announce that one of the artist’s new paintings, Love It or Leave It, is part of The Red Show at the St. Marks Artist Collective! This vibrant exhibition brings together works that explore the emotional and symbolic power of the color red, from passion and love to strength and transformation.
Love It or Leave, the artists painting is a 12×18 mixed-media piece that delves into themes of connection and division. The painting features reminiscence of urban architectural forms intertwined with two faces—one male, one female—on opposing sides, symbolizing dialogue and contrast. Pointing to the complexity of modern relationships in urban cities such as New York and the impact of the city on love and relationships the artist plays with our experience and assumptions about romance and the city. The title itself is embedded in the artwork, adding a layer of textual intrigue.
From the Collective:
The Red Show is an immersive exhibition that explores the emotional power, intensity, and symbolism of the color red. It will occur from November 5th to December 15th, 2024, in our gallery at 4 Saint Marks Place, NYC. This exhibition features paintings, photographs, and sculptures, all united by the use of red in its many shades and forms.
The color red has long embodied a spectrum of emotions and ideas—passion, love, anger, vitality, and danger. It is a hue that demands attention, stirring deep emotional responses and evoking a sense of urgency or intensity. The show taps into these associations, offering viewers a visceral experience where red serves as the connective thread through a diverse array of artworks.
Each piece in this exhibit reflects the spirit of red in its own unique way. Some works may speak to the energy and vibrancy that red exudes, while others may focus on its darker, more complex connotations. The exhibit becomes a space where emotions are amplified, allowing the audience to feel the power of red as it moves from artwork to artwork.
